30 Things to do Before 30!

I turned 29 last Friday... and my birthday weekend update will have to come tomorrow, things have been busy and its going to be a long post, BUT I did also come up with a list this weekend of 30 things I want to do before I turn 30- I only have one year, I  wish I had done this when I was 21, but never the less, here it is...

1.       Run a half marathon

2.       Visit Ireland or some other country I have never been to before

3.       Go to Vegas

4.       Take dance lessons

5.       Conquor a fear

6.       Buy property to retire on and vacation/spend weekends on

7.       Get to and maintain goal weight/size

8.       Run a 10k in an hour or less

9.       Buy myself something I wouldn’t normally buy (splurge) just because

10.   Take  a cooking class and learn how to cook a nice meal or two

11.   Write my future older self letters to be opened on those birthdays (40, 50, etc…)

12.   Come up with a skin care regime and stick with it- more than just washing off my make up

13.   Go on a road trip without any specific plan/destination in mind

14.   Take one of those pole fitness classes

15.   Participate in a 30 day workout challenge and don’t skip a day of the challenge!

16.   Eat completely clean for a month

17.   Complete a triathlon- I tried one last Sept, but the bike portion was cancelled!

18.   Send snail mail to friends once a month

19.   Ride a train

20.   Attend a music festival

21.   Climb a mountain

22.   Plan my top 5 dream vacations I want to take in my lifetime

23.   Participate in an adrenaline sport

24.   Visit a new state that I havent been to yet

25.   Have a close encounter with a wild animal – they have a Tiger exhibit in Vegas!!!

26.   Get more involved at church

27.   Read the entire Bible from cover to cover

28.   Find and work with a charity I believe in

29.   Try to become more aware of other peoples feelings

30.   Learn how to leave work at work and not bring it home with me and let it affect other areas of my life

I guess if I had made it at 21, it wouldnt be this awesome either though, I was not into fitness or health at the time... and I want to enter my 30's the healthiest I have ever been, and thats what most of these are focusing on mental, physical, and emotional health!

Here's to a fun last year in my twenties!!!

1. If calories didn't count, I would eat... cake/ cupcakes and mashed potatoes every day

2. On my Prom night.... Senior year I went with a bunch of girlfriends because Junior year I had to bring my boyfriend at the time who went to a different school and I felt like he needed all my attention and I wanted to dance with more than just one person all night!

3. When I go to the store, I always buy... I dont know that I always buy anything, I am usually pretty good at keeping a list of what I need, but I do love those Icebreaker DUO mints in strawberry, they are YUMMY- try them!

4. Family functions typically... get loud and usually political... I am from South Louisiana, when you get my family together we all end up screaming and its just in normal conversation because we are loud and all trying to talk over one another! I love my family!

5. I think my blog readers... are awesome! I love the comments and support that I get from them, I NEVER thought I would have anyone following me on this thing, I started it just for me, but love the network of awesome women I have found through this!

6. I'd much rather be..... on a beach, with a book or magazine!

7. I have an obsession with.... LSU... GEAUX TIGERS!!! (or anything purple and gold for that matter)

8. My work friends.... are a blast... I spent most of my time at work, so its nice to have good friends and fun people to work with... its the thing I love most about my job, the people I work with rock!!!

9. When I created my Facebook account.... it was in the early years of facebook, I was at LSU and remember when they added LSU as a school to be allowed to login.... they did this one school at a time back in the day!

10. My least favorite word is... the F word... I am not a prude, but just dont like that word!

11. I really don't remember.... things that arent important to me... I have bad short term memory with anything, but things that I dont value, I forget easily!

Workouts and Weigh In's Wednesday

I forgot to weigh in this morning, I didnt go to sleep til late last night and Belle my lovely lab puppy ( 9 years old this summer ) is terrified of thunder and storms, so she woke us up multiple times last night starting at 1... I overslept a little because of that, so was in a hurry to hit the road and forgot it was Wednesday!

Its my birthday week, so I can be exempt from the scale! With what I ate for dinner I may not want to know anyway... I worked a late yesterday because I have alot going on and then the hubs picked me up and we grabbed dinner before heading to the airport to get my sister, her flight landed at 7:45, and its in a sketchy area, so I wanted him to come with me...

I did great all day yesterday, til dinner... Jake got pizza... and I got a bison burger, lettuce bun, with sweet potato fries, so not TERRIBLE, but high calorie, just under 700 according to MFP, I was still only at 1380 with this for the day so I would have been great had I stopped there, but then we went to Restoration Hardware, LOVE that store... and there is a Sprinkles next door... so we decided to go to the Cupcakery in Rice because if we were going to get a cupcake it would be our favs!

I am glad its my birthday week, that is how I justified my yummy cupcake... and my sister was so happy to be greeted at the airport with a cupcake! She did the cleanse with me, so she reacted to all the sugar the same as I did... but it was delicious!

MS 150 Training/ Recap of 2010 Ride

I have been slacking on my training... I FINALLY got clip in shoes and pedals put on my bike two weeks ago and went for a training ride, and I have been going to spin here and there, but I am in NO way ready for biking 150 miles over two days and its all happening in 30 days!!!!!!!!!

I made a training schedule yesterday- I dont want to slack off on my running because I still have another 10k Easter weekend AND I want to do a half this year, but I need to get better about my biking and start adding in more weights to strengthen my legs.

Went to spin for 45 minutes yesterday and tackeled 16.7 miles... felt good, but not ready for 75 a day two days in a row. I made sure to add a few 2 day in a row rides over the next couple of weeks because I remember the shear pain of trying to sit again the morning of day 2 the first time I did the MS 150 three years ago... it took me 30 minutes just to finally sit down all the way! I do not have a small rear end and those seats are made for people with small booties!!

A few pics from 2010 when I rode for the first and only time I have ridden so far...

in AUSTIN!!!

FINISHED!

As you can see, this is the even that initially hurt my knee, I was 120 miles in and I dont know what happened but it started hurting, BAD, I sagged into the next rest stop and put biofreeze on it, took some ibuprofen (it was the strongest stuff they had), and wrapped it so that I could finish- I was not going to quit when I had done 120/150 miles of the ride... and its been messed up ever since... but I felt like I am strong enough to try this bad boy again- why not bike from Houston to Austin right? It is for a great cause- raising a lot of money for multiple sclerosis- my personal goal is $1,500 - $10 dollars per mile I am going to be biking, and my teams goal is $100,000! Feel free to make a tax deductible donation at my page: My donation page

I am excited for the next month of training and hope to keep my knee in good enough shape to finish out the ride!

Weekend Updates- Including GEORGE STRAIT!

Today there are going to be ALOT of pictures, this was a super fun weekend and we were pretty busy having a blast, my calories Saturday and Sunday werent great, BUT I was good all meals but dinner both nights- we went to a wedding one night and the rodeo the next... so I consider the weekend a victory!!!
Friday night we went to eat before the rodeo so I was able to get grilled salmon and veggies- we went to see the rodeo and Blake Shelton... two girlfriends and the hubs went with me!

Christina met one of the ropers and they chatted a while..

We spent Saturday morning at home- I was going to run or go for a bike ride, but I got the worst charlie horse in my left calf, so much so that its still sore this morning!?!? So I did the upper body workout I had posted on here last week and upped my weights. Then we watched some tv and relaxed and got ready for Suzy's wedding.

Sunday morning after church we hung out around the house til it was time to leave for the concert! I was so excited to have gotten these tickets its not even funny! I love George AND Martina!!!

We had to stop by the livestock show to see all the baby animals and visit the petting zoo again, because taking me to the rodeo is like taking a 4 year old! :)

All these were less than a week old!!!!

baby cow

baby sheep

more baby sheep

a 5 day old calf up close... so cute!!!

then the concert!!!! George even came up to our seats to visit us!!!! He chose us out of the 180 THOUSAND people there!!!!!! AMAZING!

Martina- she played for about an hour, Randy Rodgers only played 20 minutes... and both left you wanting more, but you knew they were making way for the man himself, so it was ok!

GEORGE!!!!

He was awesome...

He started at 8 and it finished at 10:30 and as we were walking out we heard him come back for an encore, but since I had work today we left anyway... we think we heard him finish around 10:45 when we were walking to our car... its hard to NOT hear 180 thousand people screaming!

I have videos from the performance, but I am not sure how to do videos on here, will have to upload to youtube and try that later...

What a great start to my birthday week! Friday is my 29th birthday- I am working on a list of 30 things to do before I am thirty... anyone have any good ideas???
