Yesterday at lunch- I ran a 5k!!! AND PR'd it!!! under 34 mins!!!
2 min walk
20 min run
2 min walk
5 min run
2 min walk
ran it out to hit 5k! and made it just under 34 mins!!!!!
I was pumped- and reached two goals today- new longest straight run (20 min- was 16!) and a new PR on 5k timing! Last best was 34:26!! 30 seconds shaved off!!!!
Here is a shot from my 5k in March where I had my last PR- I did run the whole thing, but it was a slower run... thanks to the pace hubby I had by my side- he's the best!
Very good day at the gym, I also did 50 squats and 30 pushups... and woke up super sore today!
Going to hit a spin class today I think.
So far for August I am not going to reach all my goals, but I am only 17 miles away on my biking goal- so maybe I can at least hit one of the goals... any way you slice it though, my mileage for August is WAY up from what I had in July and that is AWESOME, esp with that bad week that I wasnt in my routine and didnt get in alot of my workouts!
Last night my sister and I went to the Texans game... it was her first pro game ever... we had a blast:

I am in much better spirits...
Two nights ago, my hubby facetimed me and we got to chat for a while and I actually opened up to him... VERY hard for me- I am one that retreats! So things were better there... and then last night my sister was able to come in! LOVE her.... even if she did wake me up at 2am... on a work night! 5am came early this am...
I havent updated on my training in a while- last week was rough- ran Sunday and Wednesday, but thats it- having the class messed up my schedule- I am a lunch workout girl!
This weekend wasnt good either, but Monday I went right back to it... I ran, Tuesday I had lunch with a vendor and yesterday I did my first transition!
I went to spin for 30 min- got in 12.5 miles then went straight to the treadmill and ran for 15 min, got in 1.42 miles. It was a weird feeling running at first, but it passed.
My goal update for August... I am NOT going to hit goals- last week killed me- and I have been slacking...
running: 25/40 miles
biking: 58/75 miles
swimming: 950/4000 meters
squats 225/500
pushups on toes 160/300
I have today and tomorrow, but with my sister in town- and going to a Texans game tonight- it will be a rough go... HOWEVER for July I totaled 40 miles for all three activites and I have blown that number out of the water for August!!! Small victories people!

My two main love languages are quality time and physical touch... I havent gotten either of those in 11 days since Jake left... I feel like I am shutting down... I dont know if thats my defense mechanism or what, but we didnt get to text much yesterday evening because he was busy and the phone conversation was short- 15 minutes- and I find myself pulling away...
I hate this- and I was sharing this with him in the begining- but it didnt do any good- I told him I needed more time on the phone and it worked for a couple days then fell off again- and after I said something initially he would always ask "am I doing a better job?" and I dont want it to be another thing he has to do while out there working...
I dont know how some people do this- I cant do distance- it doesnt work for me... I know this is temporary and we just have to get through it- but I dont like it... I am used to being able to talk to him any time during the day and then talk and be together face to face all afternoon and night after work.
This has also driven home the point that Sunday School teachers and pastor's used to try to make with the importance of quiet time and being close with God- you cant spend an hour at church on Sunday and expect a good relationship with God- you need to spend time with him daily- and I find it hard to get 5-10 minutes to spend with Him, yet I am upset that I only get about that much with my husband- how much more important is my relationship with God?

Its been a while… I am a schedule and routine girl, and when
I deviate from my normal schedule/routine- everything gets messed up… last week I was in a class all week up North-
I had MORE free time than a usual week because my commute was less but instead
of working out more- I worked out less… working out at lunch works for me, and
I cant get the motivation to workout after work- a) its Texas and its hot
outside and b) once I get home- I don’t want to leave and go to the gym… last
weekend I was good about getting in workouts- Friday night after work I did
weights, Saturday I got in a great bike ride and Sunday I ran 2.6 miles, but this past week I only worked out one day-
I ran 1.6 miles Wednesday- the WHOLE thing- and my pace was AMAZING- best ever
10:00 min mile!!! But it rained on me the whole time- I had no music because of
the rain and I was worried it would get bad so I made it short and sweet…
Hank pumped iron with me Friday (week before last)
I
also ate really well all week except for dinner Thursday with an old friend- I
did get a salad, but it was at a Mexican place so I ate a ton of chips and
creamy… LOVE CHUYS!!!! Then also this weekend I was MOSTLY good except for
making brownies…. YUM!!! My friends daughter who I kind of “mentor” came and
spent the weekend since Jake was out of town and we had fun… and made brownies…
and didn’t work out at all, unless you count mowing my yard- the back was an
amazon- I know I burned killer calories because I was dying!!!! I also edged- I
SUCK at edging… its atrocious what I did to the yard… I really missed my
husband while doing all this… and I pulled ¾ of a trash can of weeds… yes I
hate yard work and wait to do it all at once- I need to plant some plants so
that there isn’t as much room for the weeds!
My class last week was good- LOTS of material in a short
period of time, but I feel that if I can study some more between now and the
test and review what we went over in class I will be good to go for the test-
the board approved me to take it 4 times, but I would like to pass in one-
because who wants to take an 8 hour test four times??? NOT this chick…
I am going to go grocery shopping tonight- I am hoping to
have a house full of evacuees tonight… I have a lot of family in Nola/Slidell/Baton
Rouge/Laffy that all needs to get out!!! So I need supplies in case they come…
so far the Nola people are going to Laffy- but with how the storm is moving-
that may not be far enough west- so praying for them to come to my house-
because they will be safer AND I will have company to distract me from missing
my main man…
My little man getting in a nap this weekend....
Got in the LSU season tickets!!!! Home opener this weekend... can NOT wait!
I think that’s another reason why I haven’t posted on here
all week- I miss him so much I feel like that’s all I would want to talk
about.. I hate this! I did not expect to get married and then 3.5 months later
him leave and be gone for half the first year of our marriage- tomorrow is our
4 month anniversary… I will be spending
it with the fuzzy kids… and without my husband.

I know I need to post pictures from Colorado from last weekend- but I am trying to get in as much QT with my main squeeze as I can before he heads out to the rig- he will be gone just over 2 1/2 weeks this first hitch- THE longest we have gone without seeing each other... I am so proud of him for taking this job and going after his dreams of what he has always wanted to do and I know that knowing that will make the time apart easier... I just also know I am going to miss him like crazy!!!!
Going to run today at the gym because yesterday was "Jake's day" - aka eat crappy food ALL day and no working out... going to really push myself today to make up for it! ...and then get a dry salad to eat for lunch because dinner is at one of my FAVORITE places, Italianos!!! :)

Weight Loss Pics
I wanted to include my weight loss pictures! I know I have posted my wedding pictures- but I figured I should post some from last summer's camping vacation to show BEFORE pictures!
These are from Mesa Verde, Montezuma Castle, and Grand Canyon...
After my weight loss pics- keep in mind- I started dieting and working out RIGHT after that vacation and the wedding pictures are from April 28 this year- so almost a year later...
A honeymoon shot, dinner our last night in Hawaii!!
This shot is from this past weekend in Denver- I am back up a little, but plan to get back to wedding shape and maybe better in no time!!!!
3.1 miles - sub 11 min per mile!!!
still no pictures from the weekend... had a migraine last night, so didnt mess with them....
Yesterday running at the gym was the FIRST time I have run/walked at a sub 11 min mile pace!!!!
I got in 3.1 miles in 34 mins:
4 min warmup walk
15 min run at 6mph!!!!
3 min walk at 4 mph
5 min run at 6 mph- 6.5 mph
3 min walk at 4 mph
4 min run at 6.5 mph
I wanted to hit 3.1, not a 5k of 3.2 because a) i was tired enough after 3.1 and b) my total miles running for the month was 10.9 and I wanted a round number!
If you had asked me a month ago if I thought I could run 15 min straight, I would have told you that you were crazy!!!!
Today is the hubby's last day at his current job- tomorrow he has the day off- so I took a vacation day to spend some QT with him and then Thurs/Friday he is in the office at his new job and Sat he heads out to the field til Sept 4th- this will officially be the longest we have been apart... not looking forward to it, but know its for the best for our future...
My OB sent in the wrong script for my BC this month- its got an extra hormone in it... and man I am feeling it... my emotions are EVERYWHERE... what great timing with the hubs leaving and all too- I am a mess just trying to hold it together..

August
Update:
Squats:
145/500Pushups: 90/300
Run: 10.9/40 miles
Bike: 27.1/75 miles
Swim: 950/4000 meters
I am
two days shy of being half way through the month, but some of these goals- I
pretty far from half way! I didn’t get any swimming in this past week- being
out of town made that impossible- but Jake is going to grab drinks with some
friends Tuesday evening, so I may go then- his leaves Saturday morning for the
field and will be gone til Sept 4th. So the end of the month I will
have more free time to get in two workouts a day if I need to catch up.
The
C25K program is all 20 min plus runs without stopping from here on out, I am
not ready for that yet and don’t want to push myself and hurt myself, so today
I am going to add 2 min to the 10 min run and then try for either 8 or 5 min
after that – I do want to try to get in 3.1 miles since my running mileage is
10.9- a 0.1 would put me back on even miles. With all the meetings I have
today- I may need to get that in Wednesday… but we will see.
This
weekend was a blast- I will have to upload pics later.
My
diet was good considering we were eating out all the time-
Friday-
Breakfast:
Panera Bread: power breakfast sandwich
Snack:
Panera cinnamon scone in Rocky Mt National Park
Lunch:
half of a pulled pork bbq sand and half of a bbq chick sand
Dinner:
Chipotle grilled chicken burrito bowl
Workout:
2 mile run/walk intervals at the hotel and pushups and squats and hiking all
over the Rocky Mt National Park – up mountain sides in high altitudes- thought
I was going to die!!!
Breakfast:
I Hop harvest grain and nut pancakes (2) and two scrambled eggs with coffee
Lunch:
grilled chicken, apple, and pecan salad from Wendy’s
Wedding
snack: wedding cake- shared with the hubby- probably had 1 ½ pieces total, 3
choc covered strawberries (divine), and some cheese and crackersDinner- Pei Wei beef and broccoli with brown rice
Workout: none- sore and worn out from the national park
Sunday-
Breakfast:
skinny caramel latte and McD sausage egg biscuit
Lunch:
92/8 lean ground beef burger with cheddar cheese and wheat bun (Jake grilled)
and sweet potato fries
Dinner:
Chuy’s chips and creamy and a grilled chicken saladWorkout: none- exhausted from getting up at 4:30 to get to the airport- did get in a nap though!
The wedding
Saturday was beautiful… I don’t know if its because ours was so recent or if its
just how it is going to be from now on- but I compared everything to our
wedding- our wedding was the best wedding ever- I know I am biased, but it was
AMAZING!!!! It makes other weddings just seem ho-hum to me… pictures will come
soon!

Yesterday I got in a weights day- and got in a lot of
squats!!
New totals for August:
Squats: 95/500Pushups: 60/300
Run: 8.9/40 miles
Bike: 27.1/75 miles
Swim: 950/4000 meters
I am pretty happy with my progress… my dead lifts with 20
pound kettle bells in each hand really made my hamstrings scream today… and my
lower back too… and my upper body is
pretty sore from yesterday too… weights days rock!
Last night I went with Jake to AT&T while he signed up
for his new IPhone, no more free company phone for him, BUT because he is going
to be self employed and using his phone mostly for work, we are betting he can
write it off, we need to find a CPA to help us, because tax time is NOT going
to be fun! Anyway, back to the point of this story- about half way through the
process of getting the phone the sales guy looks at my husband and says- “man
she’s a handful” !! WHAT??? I was standing RIGHT there… I was so taken aback I didn’t
respond- but now that I have thought about it a while, who is he to say that
about me, esp after like 5 min of interaction… I was not happy about it. Jake
has told me that he doesn’t think so but that really annoyed me…. Aren’t sales
people supposed to suck up to you? Not belittle you?
Today I got in 3 miles again- but not in two twn minute
segments- one ten minute and two fives- with a 6.5 mph run for the last min and
a half to get me to 3 miles total- doing the elliptical earlier this week
really got me- I know I didn’t have my knee brace and it was the right thing to
do, but then mixing days up and all today is the first time I have run since
the end of last week- making my run hard…
oh well, I will try again this weekend- in Denver- at higher elevations-
and probably not make it again- haha…

The moment of truth
Its been about two weeks since I last stepped on the scale... I have been trying to eat well, but failing... so I guess not trying as well as I should have been.... but I have been super hardcore training for the triathlon September 30- yes thats now LESS than two months away! Well it wasnt a great reading, but it wasnt as bad as it could have been, I am within the three pound window I have been in the past month- on the high side of it, but in it still!!! Thank you Jesus!!!
Its amazing how long it takes to come off and how fast it creeps right back on... so TODAY I start being serious about my eating again as well as continuing the workouts- except no more spin with crazy man- the spin teacher yesterdays thighs were as big as his waist- I should have walked out then- but I pushed through and now my knee is killing me more than after a run or multiple runs for that matter- no bueno! I am trying to decide if I want to try running today- or just elliptical it- it will put me behind for my monthly goal, but I dont want to hurt myself- I may start out running and then switch to elliptical if its too much on my knee...
If I can lose a pound a week, I will have 7.5 less pounds to pull through the triathlon- a reasonable and acheivable goal- I just have to overhaul my eating- that being said today I came to work armed with fruit and veggies for healthy snacks- and some of my caserrole from dinner last night- its a healthy caserrole- lots of veggies and grilled chicken on top of a little bit of brown rice and I used one can of condensed cheddar soup for the whole 13x9 pan of caserole and sprinkled a little cheddar cheese on top (usually red fat, but I am a ditz sometimes and this time I grabbed full fat at the store- oh well). Its yummy- for veggies I change it up alot but this time I used broccolli, carrots, and onions.... ALWAYS use onions... LOVE onions!!!
So here's to the 7.5 pounds that will be gone by Sept 30th- I wont be missing them!!! :)

Went to spin today- this teacher was CRAZY- very high intensity and high gears- up to 17!! I left after 30 mins, but got in 12 miles! My knee is now pissed at me though... boo that, he wanted us to get 100 RPM at gear 17, he is crazy! I liked the other lady better- pushed us, but not crazy!
Since I skipped out of class early, I got in 30 squats with 12lb medicine ball and 30 pushups on my toes! Will try to crank out more tonight too!
I am trying to get my food in line, but am realizing today, my stomache has gotten used to eating alot and im HUNGRY!!!! I need to pack veggies and fruit to snack on for tomorrow!!! Im already around 1200 cals for today!!!! YIKES!
I dont plan to diet back down to 1200 cals again, but would like to be in the 1300-1600 a day range, and hitting 1200 by 4 is not a good start, I was lower on my water today that I would like to be, so I am going to start working on that more too.
Maybe today I can keep it to 1600 or less! Going to be cooking dinner tonight once I get home so we will see!!!!

I forgot my knee brace at home yesterday so my workout consisted of 2.7 miles (30 min) on the elliptical... I havent used that thing in what seems like FOREVER- I feel like I get a MUCH better workout on the treadmill- so I remembered my brace today- I am feeling like either spin class or a run- but not a C25K run, one of my old training runs- intervals- fast for a minute or two then walk for a min or two.... I need a good kick in the pants- my eating was good yesterday until about 2:30- I need to go back to packing mini meals to eat all day- because my snacking is what got me yesterday afternoon... and then chocolate last night- dang monthly visitor!!!
I saw a blog where the girl sets monthly strength goals which guide her workouts and I liked that idea- so for August, by the end of the month (about 3.5 weeks) I would like to have completed:
squats: 500
pushups (on my toes): 300
miles run: 40 miles (I have 5.9 miles so far this month)
miles biked: 75 (15 miles for far this month)
meters swam:4,000 (950 meters so far this month)
These goals also align with training for my FIRST triathalon (Sept 30th, 7.5 weeks away!!)
The squats and pushups are good because my strength training has seriously suffered because I am concentrating on swimming, running, and biking...

Friday evening the hubby and I had a date night at Perry's in the Woodlands- yay for Houston restaurant weeks!!! I got a salad - dressing on the side, the filet with grilled asparagus- without the butter and then finished it off with bananas foster... I am only human- it was DELISH!
Saturday Hank- my kitty decided to wake us up at 6am by making bread on top of us... so I took him and the girls down so Jake could sleep some.... I watched a little tv then did some studying for the PE, made scrambled eggs and Jake grilled some deer sausage and made biscuits and we had a yummy breakfast- I then went and studied a bit more and then went to the gym to swim laps- I am SO thankful for my friend Christy's tips last weekend- I got in 30 min of laps and 950 meters!!!!!! VERY proud of that. Then I came home to get ready to meet Mel downtown for lunch and then the Brothers of the Sun concert.... it started at 4:30 and we left at 11, during the encore for Kenny- we probably only missed one song- but were both exhausted and ready to go...
Jake Owen and Grace Potter and the Nocturnals were the two openers- both good- Grace has an AMAZING voice- she sings with Kenny in "You and Tequilla" - she came out singing an accapella song and then her band joined- they are rock- and really fun!
Then Tim performed... he was so tan it was unatural- I hope its a spray tan or his skin is leather- he was in all white- jeans and a shirt- he later joined Kenny in the last encore in blue jeans and a white top - MUCH better
Kenny made a grand entrance coming up out of the floor and then flying over the crowd on this thing:
loved Kenny, he is a good entertainer- first time to see him:
me and Mel on the metro headed back to our car after the LONG concert!
Sunday morning got a work call at 6am, after getting to bed at 12:30, was really happy about that- I have a well on flowback - so its expected, but still not fun... then I worked in the nursery with two month olds during church- enjoyed getting my baby fix! :)
We went to the Texas Trophy Hunter Extravaganza... highlight for me was the puppy trainers- they brought labs! ADORABLE!
There were also snake handlers - with rattlesnakes!!!
The weekend ended with a surprise from the hubs- its that time of the month and I cant get enough of chocolate- so he surprised me with this:
LOVE!
And another cute shot of two of my babies snugglin with their pappa:

3 miles!!!!
Yesterday I did C25K week 6 day 2-
5 min warmup walk
10 min run
3 min walk
10 min run
5 min cool down walk
... and then I was SO close to 3 miles that I ran for a minute more to hit it! 33:58 was my total time and I hit 3 miles!
The Olympics was on so I was inspired, the first 10 min run I felt good and was like- wow I CAN do this! Then the last 3 min of the second 10 min run was rough... but I did it! The next run on the program goes straight to 22 min of running- I dont think I can bump that quickly! I may work my way up - week 5 day 3 had a 20 min run and I skipped it too. I need to add 2/3 min of running at a time I think... otherwise I get in my head and cant handle it.... although my heart rate has come down alot for most of the run- it doesnt get into the high 170's or even 180's til the end of a running session now...yay for improvements in my cardio vascular health!
I am going back and forthe between kickboxing with bags today and maybe attempting a spin class....
Today is my co-workers baby shower at the office- another co-worker and myself are hosting it... I made cupcakes last night and of course had to taste them to make sure they were edible... SOOOO good!
They are yellow cake with chocolate frosting:
... and yellow cake with buttercream frosting:
5 min warmup walk
10 min run
3 min walk
10 min run
5 min cool down walk

I also added sprinkles because they are FUN! I LOVE cake... have I mentioned that????

The past few days have been a roller coaster of emotions, my husband just accepted a new job, a job that will require a rotation, 14 days away and 14 days home, I know alot of people in the oil field deal with this, and even longer schedules, however, I have been spoiled and not had to deal with this yet... and I am not looking forward to it at all... I have been playing the role of supportive wife, but I am not sure how this is going to go in two weeks when I have to say goodbye for a good while.. I used to be this super independant women who didnt need or want a man, then about 2.5 years ago I met Jake and I have become co-dependant and now I worry about how much I will miss him when he is gone, the highlight of my day is going home to spend time with him!
We read the Five Love Languages book and our two main love languages are quality time and physical touch- not easy to keep up when you are working days and he is working nights and you are miles apart for two weeks at a time.
At most this will be for a year, so I am praying the time flies by... I have no doubt we will make it work, its just not going to be fun...
Ok, done complaining... going to run again today at the gym, hoping for as good if not better mileage! :)

40 miles for July
I made 40 miles in the month of July- I impress myself! Training is going pretty well... I am just still working on the eating thing- I should be around 80/20 and am closer to 60/40 with healthy foods/junk foods.... that should be one good thing about my husband being gone for long periods of time... it should be easier to eat healthy!
My recompletion from Monday is kicking butt and taking names, I am pretty proud of it!
I need to get serious about studying for the PE, the prep class is just over two weeks away and I have alot more to do prior to that class according to the instructors email!
I also got an email from HR yesterday that my company will pay for classes up to $5k/year- should I get my MBA?? I am thinking about it... if I dont do it before kids, I never will... but do I want to go back to school???
Decisions, decisions....
