Sun-run REST

6 days of working out and I ate heathy except for two meals on the weekend with my brother visiting... and I was good the rest of the day those days, so not sure whats going on....

Workout Plan for this week:

Wed- sports conditioning
Thurs-run
Friday-spin
Sat- 5k Color Run
Sun-REST
Mon-spin
Tues-run

I had the worst day yet at work yesterday... I have decided to update my resume and look for another job, I am not going to leave until the right job comes up, but after talking with the hubs last night, I am really invested in the work I do and when I am stressed/frustrated at work, I am in all areas of life and life is too short to be miserable because of your job. I love what I do, just not my current company that I do it for....

On the way home I did have things put into perspective a bit, although I had a horrible day... I do have my healthy and all my limbs, check this wreck out... horrible! It looked like everyone was ok, but still crazy!!

And my bouquet is finished!!!! My step mother in law told me about a place that freeze drys your bouquet and it came out great, I LOVE IT! Now I just have to figure out where to hang it.

Stress

I am doing 13 in 2013, thats 13 races (running)... and to save my bank account some misery with all these bike rides and runs, I will be doing the 6 virtual runs as well! I have an organized 5k this Saturday, but plan to do a separate one for the "Tackle the Miles" virtual 5k!

The Virtual Race Dates:

Yesterday was a biking day, I intended to go to spin, but my rear was still sore from Saturday, so I used one of the other bikes in the gym with a bigger seat... got in 45 minutes and 9.8 miles, doing 15 minutes on level 9, 15 mins on level 8 and the final 15 min on level 7 resistance!

mid workout in a sweat... I love that new workout top, I got it at Old Navy, they have ALOT of super cute workout clothes right now!

Today the goal is to run/walk a 5k, I hate that not running religiously for two months has put me back here, but I am going to build back up and be in half marathon shape before the end of the year!! I need to book the run so I will focus better... there are a TON in the spring, but thats too soon, so I am thinking fall time frame! May do another tri this spring though! :)

I woke up with my throat hurting like crazy today, I CAN NOT get sick again... UGH. I feel like I just got better!!!! I have also been really discouraged lately... I am eating good and working out and NOT seeing results, scale or otherwise and its frustrating, I went back to weighing myself only once a week, and tomorrow is weigh in day so I am hoping for a good loss, but its just not going well for me. I did this last year, I dont know what my deal is this year!! Frustrating!!! I think it comes down to STRESS. As stressed as I thought I was planning a wedding while working full time, I wasnt... I am so much more stressed right now with my current work load its not even funny... we interviewed someone last week, and everyone liked him, but they still havent made him an offer... we need help so badly, things are crazy and I let it stress me out and I know I shouldnt, but I do... I think thats my issue... the hubs does too, he thinks my body is fighting my efforts.. and I think he may be right.

Weekend Update

Thursday night was a night of relaxing and de-stressing from a HORRIBLE week at work... My love took me to Tommy Bahamas... and we had a blast, I got the crab stuffed shrimp and he got the ribs

We also each drank a few of these boys.... their mojitos are AMAZING!!! ...and then I entered them into my fitness pal, didnt realize how bad they were for you, but I had a rough week, so I needed them! :)

Then we went to Academy to see if we could get some ammo/my gun I want... they didnt have my gun, or much of the ammo we were looking for, but I did find this...

A perfectly adorable gift for my future niece!!!! :)

Friday morning we took the girls on a walk/run around the neighborhood- I love family outings... and the girls had a blast, we went to the field across from my neighborhood and they got to run around without leashes and of course Belle found water and got to act like a pig in slop, it was a good time for all involved, then they got baths and we finished packing up all the Christmas decorations and dusted and cleaned a bit and then my brother came in to visit so we went to the range so he could learn to shoot the rifle, we are taking him hunting to get an axis this spring!

His first two shots were both bulls-eyes, I think he will be okay!

His damage, he is good with a rifle!!!

Saturday was my first official MS150 training ride- it had 750 participating... and I would say it was a success, first ride with hills... so I did the shortest route, 12 miles, the other options were 25, 33, and 45... I figured I should take it easy on the first hill ride... and about 4 miles in I was glad I did 12, those hills were KILLER!!! The hubs came out to be my cheerleader/support:

This is me crossing the non-labeled finish line.... FIRST!!!!!! Thats right... I was THE first person to make it back... there were two rest stops and since it was only 12 miles and the stops on the actual ride are 10/15 miles apart I wanted to skip the rest stops and make the whole distance without stopping, but I did NOT think I would be FIRST back... I WON, I have NEVER won a sporting/fitness event before, I was so pumped and the hubs was too, he was so proud of me! He even got a video of me coming in... I will figure out how to post that soon!

My runkeeper app showing the details of my ride, I usually bike 17mph, thats how much those hills slowed me down!!!

Yesterday was the 20 year anniversary of my daddy's going to heaven... and our pastor is on a series about the end of times right now and talked about the second coming... as much as I miss him... I know he is in a better place and that he is watching me and keeping me safe, and the hubs was great yesterday- its nice to have someone to keep you company, share in your pain, support you, and comfort you when you are sad... I wish my dad could have met him... I know he will one day, and I know they will get along great!

Races 2013... so far

I have signed up for a few runs already for 2013- I need to start running regularly again, with my running goals, wanting to do another tri, and the MS150 my weekends are going to be full of activities!

This Saturday is my first official MS150 training ride!

I have my first 5k of the year Feb 2nd- and two friends are joining me for it- my sister and my friend Tara- its a color run, so I am excited!

Feb 9 and 16 are other bike rides

Feb 23 is the rodeo run that a friend here is Houston may be doing with me... also 5k

March 2/9/16 are more bike rides

March 23 - my birthday weekend is a neon run 5k my sister is going to run with me!

April 6 is a tough mudder

... and I will probably sign up for more rides in April because the MS150 is April 20-21!

May 4th is a tri I may be signing up for with a coworker- the biking and running should be up to par, but will have to add swimming in too!

I will train and be in good shape by then... my workouts every week are going to be 3 running sessions, 3 biking sessions, one swimming session and two bootcamp sessions... its going to be great for my body and if I can start implementing the things I am learning in my book- should be great for  my weight loss too! I am going to have a to be a workout fool though too- 9 workouts a week! Thats no joke! When I was hardcore getting ready for the wedding I was averaging 6/7 a week- so I just have to bump it up a notch for this!

I am excited for what 2013 has to offer!

Work Outs and Weigh In Wednesday

I was sick most of last week... but got back on the waggon Saturday

Workout Results  (last week):

Wednesday- sick :(
Thurs- running still sick
Friday- spin still sick
Saturday- weights and a run bootcamp- we used weights and ran and did sprints
Sunday- bike ride could hardly move from Sat- no workout
Monday- weights and stairmaster biked 45 mins at gym
Tuesday- running  Jake came home- no workout

Only got in two workouts last week, this week I plan to kill it!

Wed- sports conditioning
Thur- run
Friday-bike
Sat-bootcamp
Sun-run
Mon-spin
Tues-run

This morning was the weigh in... and although I was extremely good yesterday, not getting in a real workout may have hurt me, the scale was the same this week as last, while maintenance is BETTER than a gain, its still frustrating... but I forge on and plan to kill it this week.

I downloaded and started reading:

Sunday night- I had a migraine Monday night, and I read some more of it last night. I am on chapter 11 and I love this book- it makes sense! Its about clean eating and balancing our systems with eating the right nutrients and cutting the junk- fried food, white starches, sugar, etc... and she lets you have two cheat meals a week- so its a maintainable lifestyle change, NOT a diet that you can only do for a short while.

Alot of this I knew and was already doing a lot of it... but I think it will help!

I would recommend this book to anyone, and I am not even finished reading it yet... I downloaded it on my kindle for $8!

The Hubs is Home!!!!

I missed him terribly!!! I havent seen him in two weeks... we always have a lunch date on his day back in and he always gets to pick... and as usual he picked something yummy and fattening...

BUT I was good and ordered....

although I did use creamy for my dressing, I ate it the healthy way and dipped my fork in it, not lather the whole salad in it... I was tempted though... I could live off of creamy... I would be 400 pounds, but I would be happy! haha

...and I watched him eat this:

dont get me wrong, I dont want to be a man, but the metabolism would be nice!!!!

I am VERY proud of myself... we also passed on the sometimes typical cupcake stop to celebrate his homecoming!!!! I am NOT stuffed... I had 10 chips and half a salad... I am satisfied and PROUD of myself... this is one of my TWO favorite junk food places, and I was GOOD!!! :)

Weekend Update... and 100th post

Last post was my 100th!!! It seems like I just started this thing yesterday... and its still morphing every day!

This weekend was another low key weekend, which I needed after Friday...

this is what I got to drive home in Thursday after the work happy hour for my boss's 40th birthday... it pretty much looked the same on Friday, just a little less dark... did I mention I love having a long crappy commute (sarcasm)
so I relaxed this weekend with my friend Redbox- who doesnt love dollar something rentals?? Butter was WEIRD, Timothy Green was cute but sad, and Friend for the End of the World was cute and sad also
I found out last week that I am going to be an aunt to a baby girl!!!! I am BEYOND excited about this...
....so I also looked at baby girl LSU clothes this weekend of course, how adorable is the paw prints on the booty????? LOVE!!!
I also enjoyed all my time with my fuzzy babies..
Saturday I was feeling mostly better, so I decided to go to the gym for...
I almost passed out 3/4 times, and he totally kicked my butt along with everyone elses... it was crazy, sprints, weights, sprints, crab crawls around cones on half the court and the dreaded bear crawls for the other half...
Sunday morning the fog was so bad I could only see 10/20 yards in front of me!!!
snuggling with two of my three babies
I had another family member deal with fire... yesterday my MIL texted... the house across the street burnt to the GROUND... and huge embers were flying everywhere, so they spent most of the day putting those out so there house didnt burn as well. luckily no one was injured- the house that burnt was empty and everything was ok other than this guy lost his house, but I am tired of dealing with fire and loved ones especially when I cant help because I am in a different city!!

on a positive note, my hubby comes home TOMMORROW!!!!!! :)

Reality Check

I had a major reality check this morning. My hubs works 14 and 14 on a drilling rig... and this morning at 8:30 I get a message from him saying "dont want you to worry, but we have a fire, fire department is here, but just wanted you to hear it from me"... I have been in oil and gas since summer of 2005... I KNOW anything and everything that CAN go wrong on a rig, much less what can happen if anything is on fire, so I spent all morning in meetings and freaking out about my love's safety... it was so horrible that I ended up leaving one meeting early and getting to the next late so I could cry in my office- NOT alot of women in my field, you just DONT cry at work, its a sign of weakness and I already have the odds against me as a women in a "man's oilfield"... They are drilling in an area with a lot of production, which means there are tanks nearby FULL of OIL - major explosion risk, these wells are drilled mostly with OIL based mud, LOTS of oil on location... I freaked from 8:30 until 9:45 when I got a text saying the fire was out. He is the company rep on location so he had to stay the whole time...

I cant even begin to describe how much I love this man... and the hurt that I felt even at the THOUGHT of possibly losing him.. I lost my dad unexpectedly 20 years ago this month on the 27th to a heart attack... I CAN NOT lose him too! I am so thankful for my friends and family who joined me in praying for his safety and all on the rig this morning, NO ONE was hurt and all is under control now... and I was given a dose of reality I could have lived without for sure...

I love this man so much... and plan to hug him extra long when he gets home Tuesday from this rotation!!!

Hug and love on those you love, because we never know when they may get taken away from us!!!

Recipe Thursday: Apple Crisp (WW)

I have done Weight Watchers before... and was really sucessful at it, mainly because they have great recipe swaps for our favorite foods... say apple pie, my hubs even loves this recipe... and its really nothing calorie wise compared to regular apple pie..

I give you Weight Watchers apple crisp.

Its delicious!

Today is my VP's 40th birthday... she has been a VP since 36, and really someone I aspire to be like. I mean, who wouldnt want to climb the ladder super quickly and know alot about what they do? We have a happy hour after work today for her birthday- my goal.... only two glasses of red wine and not a drop more!

I love wine, and my co-workers love drinking, but empty calories!!!!

I am glad I am down... I keep seeing people post amazing weight loss numbers on the Biggest Loser competition board, but I have to stop comparing myself to others and keep going- the only person I need to remember in all this is the person I was in July 2011... I dont want to be that out of shape again, ever!!! or even the person I was at Christmas this year! I can do this and I will keep it off this time!

Travel Tuesday: PARIS

.... today is going to be quick because I am sick... there I admit it... I am SICK... I am hoping its just a cold, I got a flu shot, so it cant be the flu, but I feel like crap and I slept a whopping total of about 3 hours (and thats being generous)... I tossed and turned and tossed more... tonight there will be DRUGS... nyquil or some other equvalent so that I can REST! I am at work because I am a work-a-holic and we are super busy and I cant afford a sick day, but thats the way it is...

This week: PARIS, yes I have been there already before, BUT it was a quick two day stop on a long European Excursion AND I hadnt met the hubs yet... so I want to go back, now that I have my guy, I want a romantic trip to Paris with him!!!

when I saw this couple in their wedding attire I KNEW I had to come back one day with my soul mate... cheesy I know, but I have a BIG cheesy side that the hubs brings out of me...
I saw the louvre:
...and the mona lisa while there.. which is on the opposite side of the room of this magnificent painting, that takes up a whole wall... and I hate to be the one to say it, but its a bit of a let down... after seeing all the other pieces in that place, I wasnt impressed... sorry art critics... its a lot of hype in that one painting!
we also visited Notre Dame, beautiful!
The Arc De Triomphe:
...and a trip to Moulin Rouge, pictures werent allowed inside... for obvious reasons.. but I HAD to go, it was PARIS!!
and of course, the most beautiful and in NO WAY a let down, Eiffel Tower:
it really is a romantic city, but when going with a group, it seems dirty... hence the need to return with my love!!!

Weekend Update

Last week I got to talk to Mr. Manziel... all my A&M co-workers were jealous... and asked me if I asked about his grandson to which I responded "No, but I almost said "GEAUX TIGERS!!!" at the end of the phone call, however I kept it respectable!" He is a joint interest partner in one of our wells and I was doing a workover on it and needed to explain what we were planning to do and what we expected out of it.
Friday was my 9/80 off, although I still got in about 3/4 hours of work both Friday and Saturday from home, but thats oilfield for ya... I did finally catch up on DVR including Biggest Loser and found a "challenge of the day" and did it... 100 squats!
I then had a nice night in watching redbox movies... both of these were really good:
I was going to ride Friday, but found a flat tire, so got it fixed Saturday and then got in a WINDY ride... like 10-20 mph almost blow me over winds....
I also got to facetime with my grandma last night... she was holding my sisters Ipad so that she could see me without a glare, and so I talked to her forhead most of the time, but it was nice to see her doing better and feeling better too!
My baby girls on the stairs, Hank was on the one below them, but I couldnt grab my phone in time to get em all..
This is my mileage for 2012, I started running and biking in July: Goal for this year is to hit 1,000 miles, with the MS150 and a half marathon I think I can do it!!
I signed up for 4 races this weekend... they start in Feb, and I am thinking about a tri in May... and I need to find a half marathon to sign up for too! But once I get more of that lined out that will be a post itself... Good weekend all in all, relaxing which is what I needed... I am not feeling too well and I think I may be getting a cold, I had a flu shot, so I am hoping its not that! Hope everyone else had a good weekend as well! :)

I am back on the waggon and ready to go!!! Now I am planning my races for this year and really excited about it... I am doing the 13 in 2013 challenge, once I find all my races I will post on that, but I cant wait to see what this year holds for me and my love! :)
