Whole 30 days 10-14 and a Bachelorette Party!

Today is day 15 - half way there!

Last week was ok - had a few temptations eating out with friends, and then there was that bachelorette weekend... but we will get to that in a minute.

I did the hardest workout I have done yet on the plan and it was TOUGH, but I did it... no carbs and pushing yourself isn't easy, but its possible! I MAY have pushed it too hard because I almost passed out a few times, but I did it... 15 minutes on the bike - 6.6 miles, then 15 minutes of sprints on the treadmill, started at 8.5mph and went down to 7.5mph (20 sec on and 20 off, other than the last three minutes - that was 30/30), I didn't finish my last set of back workouts because I was DOG tired...

Friday morning I was up at 4am to catch my flight to Nola - got my black coffee

and even found scrambled eggs at the airport to stay on plan 100%!

After spending 3 hours of QT and catching up with my mawmaw at the nursing home I caught up with my sis... she wanted snowcones, so I got one without flavor... it was actually better than nothing at all, I didn't feel as deprived... and then boiled crawfish for lunch - DIVINE and also 100% on plan! We then laid out at the pool for a bit waiting on some of the other girls for our beach bachelorette weekend!

That night in Gulf Shores we went to Lamberts - my friends had rolls the size of your hand and I ate 100% on plan! green beans, grilled shrimp, and a baked sweet potato plain! my sister had that plate of yummy mashed potatoes and roast with gravy... and she ate my roll that they threw me... thankfully!

we then arrived at our condo for the weekend and it was adorable:

Saturday was spent at the beach - I cooked plain eggs for breakfast and had some fresh fruit... we skipped lunch because we were in bikinis all day - who wants to eat when you are in a bikini!?!

that night we hit up Flora Bama - after we had spaghetti squash and meat balls (100% on plan)... we had a BLAST at the bar - I had two vodka sodas and a shot of tequila (not on plan) but that's IT! I call that a WIN! A few pics from the night...

Sunday for breakfast we went to Waffle House - I had 3 eggs scrambled plain and watched them all eat ALL THE CARBS because most of them were hungover... the waitress did help distract me by spilling my SUPER STEAMING hot coffee all over my crotch... yea that happened... but I survived... and got my eggs free, as well as all the girls meals.... then we went shopping at the outlet mall in Foley and I got some cute stuff from Anne Taylor and New York and Company and then we grabbed lunch at Sonic - grilled chicken sandwich - just ate the chicken breast and I ordered a sweet potato tot and split it with my sister (not 100% on plan because the tots are fried, but pretty darn close if you ask me!) then we headed back to Nola... I had dinner with my mom at the Harbor and I ordered the grilled shrimp large poboy and just didn't eat the bread (100% on plan) - she got the fried shrimp poboy - I didn't even eat a single shrimp! My willpower is AMAZINGLY strong - in the past I would have caved a lot more than I did this weekend... I am PROUD of myself!

Whole 30 on the road with friends is HARD, but not IMPOSSIBLE! Which is good because I am headed to visit family this coming weekend for Easter...

Whole 30 Update: Days 1-9

I am going to try to update every couple days on this journey now that I am back in print here, but I wanted to give a summary of the first 9 days - today is day 10 - after today I am a third of the way done... and I have to say, its HARD to hit my normal calorie goal of 1600 calories - on the Whole 30 you are NOT supposed to log your food/calories, but I am a creature of habit AND when I do this again I will want ideas from what I ate this time, so I am tracking it on MFP - user name is LSUsweetiepie84 if you want to see all the details. I also post a lot of my meal pics on my IG account same username as MFP. I am usually around 1200-1000 calories a day - the first week of this I only worked out the first day, then I took a week off because of pulling my back last Monday at the gym - this week I have been back twice and its been TOUGH without carbs - I am hoping my body adjusts... but in the meantime I am sucking it up!

Here is a little taste of what I have been eating - eggs is the easiest and best option for breakfast... this was egg beaters egg substitute - first and the last time I had it for this challenge, switched to whole eggs and they taste so much better!

I wasn't very prepared for day one so I had an apple, tuna and pickles, and some green goddess juice for lunch.

Dinner was ground venison on top of a baked sweet potato, I was starving but once I ate this I was full.

Day 2 was hard because I had to travel for work... so I got up early before my flight and made real eggs with leftover venison steak chopped up in it:

then once I got to the airport I got some travel supplies - TECHNICALLY the almond pecan crunch had some organic sugar which isn't supposed to be allowed, but if I didn't have it I would have starved on the road - we weren't in control of the meals, so I was at the mercy of the lady cooking.. and I bought a magazine I subscribe too, but I forgot - its only my second month... oh well!

dinner on the ranch the first night was a nightmare, but I survived and didn't eat any bread or yummy looking dessert - however I did eat a white twice baked potato - but that's all I ate off plan!

breakfast on the ranch the first morning was perfection!

this was our lunch... I pulled the turkey and lettuce off the croissant and cheese and just watched them - this is why I needed the nuts to stay full!

once I got back home after two days away I was so glad to be in control of cooking again I roasted sweet potato wedges (note: this is my favorite way to eat sweet potatoes) and had some ground venison leftovers with it

my go to "dessert" when the hubs is eating girl scout cookies or ice cream bars is frozen fruit - it has kept me sane!

I had a class one day last week and had to peel the chicken skin off and eat the breast and ignore the noodles and sauce and eat the carrots and grean beans - SO glad I had an apple too and then they plopped a piece of chocolate cake in front of me AFTER I said no thank you - but I didn't eat it! It looked amazing but I held strong!

my first weekend breakfast I tried Emmy's whole 30-ified paleo oatmeal, but I have to say I was not a fan - I may try it again, but it didn't work for me... so I only ate about 1/3 of it...

we were getting tired of venison every night so we grilled up some shrimp the other night and it was amazing! most nights with dinner I need a sweet potato (or a half) because I am starving - but it usually does the trick and fills me right up!

we tried a date night at salata, but without the ranch, black beans, and pita chips it wasn't very fun for me... I only ate about half the salad...

I had eggs with ham and onion yesterday for breakfast and it was amazing!

I have also been eating a lot of spaghetti squash - tricks your mind into thinking you are eating carbs, but you aren't! LOVE that!

My food journal from yesterday... I have been as low as around 950 cals and as high as 1400 cals, but I am usually right around here...

I also did another no no and weighed myself after one week - I am down 4 lbs in one week! I weigh myself weekly - I cant go 30 days without doing it!

It has definitely been hard some days - but I think my biggest challenge will be this weekend at a friends bachelorette party at the beach!

I am back... and I am 30... and I am on day 9 of Whole 30!

There actually is a reason why I left/made this private for a while - I was on the job hunt and I googled my name and this blog of mine popped up - and I didn't want that to be the first thing recruiters saw when they searched for my name... so I decided to hide it a while, but I am back because I found a new job! I am VERY excited and I gave my two weeks notice yesterday, but will be working the full time because we are really under staffed here.

There is a lot of stuff to catch up on... but first and foremost, I turned 30 at the end of last month... and it was awesome!!!

We had my birthday lunch at CHUYS!!!!

My sister made me LSU colored cake balls that were heavenly!!!

The hubs got my birthday cake at Nothing Bundt Cakes it was peanut butter chocolate chip and DIVINE! but they forgot my candles...

My mom got me and Its a Small World doll from the Disney store... I know I am 30, but this was my FAVORITE ride when I was a little girl and we went to Disney - I made my parents ride it ALL day with me... no jokes here - really awesome gift!

A snapshot of my birthday at the rodeo! We went to the rodeo and livestock show and got to see an adorable baby sheep who was born that morning... got to pet him, sooo cute and sooo tiny!!! and we share a birthday, just 30 years apart! The Band Perry performed that night and were AMAZING, they really put on a great show!

Then we went and found bluebonnets and took pics with them! A Texas thing to do in the spring, even though it was freezing cold and windy!

And the hubs and I went back to the rodeo and got to see Zac Brown Band - LOVE them!

Then the following weekend - last weekend in March we went to BR to celebrate my good friends upcoming wedding with a couples shower BBQ...

some of the bridesmaids

my love

the happy couple

BFFS

me and my love!

So after two weekends of crap eating and cake... I decided to do something drastic... THE WHOLE 30

Today is day 9 and I will give you an update on week one of the Whole 30 tomorrow!

Saying Goodbye to My 20s....

Tomorrow is my last day in my 20s... I feel like I have a great workout routine going right now... with the #stopandgivemethirty challenge I will be at 30 days tomorrow also! I have been getting in 4-5 weights days a week with Jaime Eason's 12 Week Plan and can feel myself getting stronger every workout and I am LOVING that, that runners high I was searching for, I have found a similar thing in weight lifting... I used to struggle to do bicep curls with 8lb dumbbells and my last bicep day I did 3 different bicep exercises with 15lbs for each arm and afterwards decided next workout I need to up my weight again!!! The other 2-3 days a week I have been trying to either be active in some way or get in cardio without weights.... I say "cardio without weights" because during my weight lifting sessions I am getting cardio FROM lifting weights... I just keep my tempo and don't rest and my HR stays up most of the time... its two birds with one stone and I love it! Since starting the challenge February 10th I have burned over 14,500 calories!!!!!!!

The area I haven't nailed down, but am always improving in is my diet, what I eat... and I have been toying with the Whole 30 Challenge for the first 30s days that I am 30 and I have decided to do it. It wont be easy, but I can do it! I think its just what I need to jump start my eating again to make it more on point! I have been eating right 80-85% of the time, but that's not enough, I need to see what results I can get eating right 100% of the time while doing this program with weights I think my results will be amazing!!!!

Here's to turning 30- I have decided its going to be an amazing decade! My healthiest yet!!!!

Life Lately

This is my last week as a 20 something and its been crazy... time is flying by.

I have finished the first two weeks of Jaime Eason's Live Fit 12 week program. I didn't take my measurements at the start, but I am down 1lb and I feel stronger and leaner... I NEED to take a minute to take my measurements tonight! I do have measurements from earlier and pictures, but still would like something more recent as a good before!

I have been killing it for the #stopandgivemethirty and as long as I don't miss a workout this week and finish strong Friday I will hit my 30 days! About a week later than the rest of the ladies, but I will do it - just in time for my 30th birthday on Saturday!!!!

You may or may not have noticed I changed my privacy settings on here... I will explain that in more detail at a later date, but I cant talk about it right now. In the meantime you have to have a blog to read mine... it will all make sense when I can explain, but I just didn't want it all out there for anyone to read anymore. I googled my name and found out way too much information about myself for my comfort level. We are a generation of over sharing, but I need limits.

My eating has been really on point, even this weekend.... being at our property, I bought groceries and tried to keep it healthy - carbs were a little higher than I would like, but at least it wasn't food out.

A snapshot from lunch Friday - double day workout and a salad to finish off a winning lunch!

I find out about my work bonus today and will get it Friday, if I get one.... I am getting granite countertops! I have been wanting them since I bought the house 4.5 years ago... well its time! I don't want that pattern that EVERYONE has, because I like to be different... I saw this pattern online and kinda like it... my backsplash is brown tile, so I need to keep it in the neutral zone, but am looking for ideas/suggestions if you have any, but so far this is my favorite!

Like I said earlier we spent time at our place this weekend hiking around and cutting more cedar to help our oaks survive the drought... it was an active weekend and we got to meet the new baby cow! he is beyond adorable and I am in love! I am so glad we leased the place for cattle 1. ag exemption, 2. they are too cute!!!!! 3. they eat the grass, which actually is bringing up more new growth and I like it

Not sure if you have heard this song or not, but its my new FAV - I am loving it!!!! You must check it out... and the music video is required to truly appreciate it!

Update on #stopandgivemethirty

Earlier this week the hubs surprised me with my birthday present... a week early! Its my first rifle!! I have been using his... so we finally got one just for me... I LOVE it! Winchester 7mm08 with wood stock... its PERFECT! I cant wait to go shoot it! We are headed to the property this weekend so I should have a good chance to!

I was so sore from NINE straight days of working out - no rest that yesterday I took a rest day! It was nice... and my muscles are thankful because yesterday I was hobbling around like a fool:

Update on my #stopandgivemethirty challenge, since I had a couple missed days, I can still finish the challenge by the time I turn 30 if I workout every day until next Friday... I can do eight days, I just finished a nine day streak!

Things are beyond crazy right now, hence the lack of posting lately, but I am hoping to have a lot of good news in the next month!!!! In the meantime I am buckling down at work and getting after it. Reviews are Monday and I hope they recognize all the hard work I have done the past year!

My working out has been on point, my eating has been on point 90% of the time. I am down 1lb this week.... I will take it.
