Workout Wednesday- 2013 Training Plan

I am linking up with Skinny Meg again for her WOW! :)

I came up with a tri/half marathon/marathon training plan and started yesterday.... Its a training plan for me for the rest of the year, which gives me the best chance at succeeding in my tri in July, my half in October, and my full next February!

I researched a few different plans, Hal Higdon and Jeff Galloway and combined what I liked about each, and added weights because when I did my last training for my 10k in March I cut out weights and I want to get and STAY strong and toned, and weights are necessary for that. I also kept spin throughout the training because I believe it makes me a faster/better runner!

I kept my during the week runs short, because I workout over lunch break and I threw in some classes at my gym:

Kat's class - is a bodypump/bootcamp class- weights and a step and general pain

Heather's class- is a bootcamp/sports conditioning class - body weight exercises and lots of cardio/plyo

I also ordered another month of weight training and some cardio routines from EFITMAMA on IG... her first month was amazing, so I am trying to decide how I am going to work those in to my training schedule. I may just do them on weight days OR I may think about two a days, we will see how that ends up!

It All Starts TODAY!

I haven't been eating super great lately or working out like I would like to and this weekend is a 5k with the MLFC group and I am worried... its not going to be pretty, but its my own fault. Today at lunch I am running and I hope to get in a 5k inside, it will be easier than running outside Saturday, also praying for cooler weather.

My half is Oct 12th and I HAVE to get back to running 3 miles by July so I can start building again. I can do this, I just have to start... TODAY!

I also have my tri July 27th - I need to bust out my half marathon training plan and make sure that I add in swimming for the tri at the end of next month. I am doing it with two coworkers so I don't want to look like a totally out of shape gal...

I am done with putting it off, it all starts Today!

Ranch Weekend Update

Friday morning we closed on our property!!!! ...and then took this picture to document! :)

We then headed out to the property to start the three days of weekend work and tried to get as much accomplished as possible, most of the weekend we spent the weekend flagging areas for some dozer work, we want to clear a lot of the prickly pear, small dead cedars (from the drought), and some of the small live cedar (they suck up all the water and starve out the persimmons, oaks, and mesquite)!

pretty cool dead trunk we are going to move and use as a bench for our homemade fire pit we started working on this weekend, made a cement base and started laying the ground work to hopefully finish it next weekend:

wandered around the property some and found some cool rock outcrops!

a view from where we are thinking of putting our retirement home eventually - hopefully once we pay this thing off!

another pretty view from that site

our neighbor on one side is a high fenced exotics ranch, they have 3 horses we saw, some blackbuck, and this scimitar horned oryx below:

another pic on our place

we have a TON of oak trees, and I LOVE THEM!!!!!

one of the two homemade protein feeders we put up... they both got a lot of action this weekend!

a picture at night while watching the sunset...

if you look in the middle here, we found a mama deer and her fawn while watching the sunset, so pretty!

this was one of the game camera pics, we only had one camera, so we took one night at each feeder, this buck is still in velvet and his antlers are still growing, pretty cool to see!

a mama deer and her fawn... hard to spot the little guy because of his spots, but he is right behind her!! we also had a raccoon at this feeder Friday night!

at the other feeder Saturday night we had a set of twins with their mama!!!!

it was overcast most of the day Friday and Saturday, but Sunday it was super sunny and I now have a nice farmers tan... or burn that is! It was 106 in the sun Sunday and we still worked til 3pm, grabbed a late lunch and started the drive home...

We did ALOT of flagging for widening the roads and clearing a couple areas, this property is THICK with trees and brush! We also changed out the locks on the barn (and by we, I mean me, I did it all by myself!) while the hubs worked on the firepit! We also set up the two protein feeders, made 5/6 mineral licks, set out some alfalfa hay for the deer, and a protein block. It was a productive and physically exhausting weekend, no normal workouts, but a lot of ranch work!

This place is amazing and I cant wait to go back and get more work done on it! I just wish we weren't so busy that its going to be a few weeks before we get back!

Letter to my 21 Year Old Self

button

Dear 21 year old self,

I know you feel like your world just fell apart (I had just ended things with my college sweatheart and fiancĂ©), but this was THE best decision you have made to date! Cheer up!! Don't waste your time for a month after the breakup hanging out with him and trying to fix things- they cant be fixed- you cant fix him... you don't need a project, you need a man who is ready for you and good for you!  In a month you will see him in the parking lot with another girl first thing in the morning and it will be what finally makes you drop him completely. I wish you had before that, but it happens finally at least.

You will lose the unhappy relationship weight you gained pretty quickly because you start running and you aren’t eating because you are miserable. You are going to spend the next summer trying to drink away the world, partying like a rock star. This is NOT a bad thing, it’s ok to let loose and have fun and get the crazy partying out of your system while you are still young – it helps prevent mid life crisis later!

Your life WILL go on, and it just gets better from here, the sky is the LIMIT for you!!! That loser was holding you back from your potential! You deserve and get so much better than that, and he makes you happy, and makes you want to be the best version of yourself you can be… you even lose weight while with him!

This next year is going to be scary and crazy- but life changing at the same time.. you will go to summer school this summer, and somehow pass physics while drinking ALOT.... but then in the fall you will be burnt out on school and broke and take a semester off to work - you mainly also want to get away from your ex - since he lives in the same apartment complex and just across the parking lot. You use this time away to make money and heal... you don't think it will be possible to move on but you do!

When you go back to LSU in the spring you change your major to petroleum engineering (what you always wanted to do) and you will LOVE it, you will thrive and realize you were dumb for starting in chemical! You will make great new friends and keep some of the old friends, but you will have a great rest of college... and an amazing life after that!

Love,

Your 29 year old self!!

...as I write this, the crazy thing is my 21 year old sister is going through a tough breakup right now and I realize this could totally apply to her, she sometimes reads this blog - I think at least- but I am going to ask her to read today for sure, I know she could use it! Hindsight is 20/20!!!

...man I look so young in those pictures!!! like a baby!!!!

Weekend Update: Galveston Trip and Work out and Weigh In Wed

Things at work have been hectic, and when I get home the last thing I have wanted to do is get back on a computer, so sorry for my lack of posting lately... I am back, and with a fun weekend update too!

This past weekend I went to Galveston for a birthday and a wedding.

Friday after work we drove out to the island... and made it just in time to see the pretty pink sky after the sunset!

We played spoons which was a good way for me to get to know everyone, I only knew one person going into this... it was her friends birthday weekend, but I figured it would be a good time as it was... so it was great getting to know a new group of people!

it was cloudy and overcast all weekend, we stayed at the condo pool and didn't hit the beach up, but we had a blast anyway!

a few of us ladies at the pool...

the group before boarding the party bus for the night!

 our ride

roomates for the weekend

we all danced the night away, it was a great time!

Sunday was my coworker Megans wedding day!

We had a good time at that as well... and it was a beautiful wedding!

and my hubs came home yesterday!!!! so I was glad to have him back! got in a great run Monday at the gym and I always take off the day he gets back because we grab lunch together since he gets into town at noon... back to it today, full body day!

I am getting a new month of workouts from EFITMAMA on IG, she hooked me up with a great plan last month, so I am excited for a new plan! She has a sale right now for a months worth of weight training (4 days a week) AND this time she is throwing in 32 cardio sessions on top of that for only $30!!!

I weighed in this morning, and I am up... but with a weekend of drinking and eating badly, I am not surprised... I did pretty good yesterday and hope to keep it up! I would love to eat mostly clean all month - even though I am on the road a lot.....

last week I was in S Texas for work Monday-Wed night
Friday-Sunday was Galveston
Thursday-Sunday I will be in the hill country closing on our property and starting to work on it
next weekend I will be in Dallas for MLFC weekend
Monday-Wednesday after that I will be in East Texas for work
and the following weekend I am going to Pensacola with some ladies for a beach trip

June is a busy month for me... to say the least

Lately...

I have been MIA for the most part lately and I hate that, I hope things slow down soon, but I don't see that happening. I am still working out and watching my eating and I am getting stronger, which I am glad to see. My body is changing even if it is slowly.

I am in a funk emotionally lately, I don't know why but I am... part of it is probably missing my main squeeze while he is gone and other things that have been going on in other areas of my life, but it is what it is and I need to make a daily choice to focus on the positive things in my life. We get so bogged down on what's going wrong or hectic or stressing us out that we don't ever take time to appreciate all we do have and should be thankful for. I am going to be working on that... and soaking up some rays this weekend at the beach with one of my favorite girls! I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend away....

Nothing like recharging your batteries to help you refocus on what's important.

I cant wait for my love to be home Tuesday, I miss him WAY too much when he is gone!
