Ranch Weekend Update

 

 

 Friday morning we closed on our property!!!! ...and then took this picture to document! :)

 

 

 We then headed out to the property to start the three days of weekend work and tried to get as much accomplished as possible, most of the weekend we spent the weekend flagging areas for some dozer work, we want to clear a lot of the prickly pear, small dead cedars (from the drought), and some of the small live cedar (they suck up all the water and starve out the persimmons, oaks, and mesquite)!

 

 

 

 

pretty cool dead trunk we are going to move and use as a bench for our homemade fire pit we started working on this weekend, made a cement base and started laying the ground work to hopefully finish it next weekend:

our neighbor on one side is a high fenced exotics ranch, they have 3 horses we saw, some blackbuck, and this scimitar horned oryx below:

we have a TON of oak trees, and I LOVE THEM!!!!!

if you look in the middle here, we found a mama deer and her fawn while watching the sunset, so pretty!

 

 

this was one of the game camera pics, we only had one camera, so we took one night at each feeder, this buck is still in velvet and his antlers are still growing, pretty cool to see!

at the other feeder Saturday night we had a set of twins with their mama!!!!

 

 

 it was overcast most of the day Friday and Saturday, but Sunday it was super sunny and I now have a nice farmers tan... or burn that is! It was 106 in the sun Sunday and we still worked til 3pm, grabbed a late lunch and started the drive home...

We did ALOT of flagging for widening the roads and clearing a couple areas, this property is THICK with trees and brush! We also changed out the locks on the barn (and by we, I mean me, I did it all by myself!) while the hubs worked on the firepit! We also set up the two protein feeders, made 5/6 mineral licks, set out some alfalfa hay for the deer, and a protein block. It was a productive and physically exhausting weekend, no normal workouts, but a lot of ranch work!

 

This place is amazing and I cant wait to go back and get more work done on it! I just wish we weren't so busy that its going to be a few weeks before we get back!
